I'm thinking Mother's Day socks for my mom, birthday socks for my mother-in-law. Mathy housewarming/hostess dishcloths for a friend who just bought a house and is planning the Auburn alumni not-exactly-fake mini-conference we try and have annually. So that's May, June, and July. There's the space invaders scarf for the husband, which probably is going to happen eventually. It would be good to have that for his August birthday, except he won't use it in August, so I may put it off till Christmas. Plus I want to finish the red wrap sweater before the semester's out - we're at midterm now.
Which means that my half-term class is about over. My night class has been over for a week, and so my effective workload starting in two weeks is half what it has been. Which means that I will have more time to knit, starting soon! (I've got a section or two worth of algebra to prep for this week, I'll have tests in all four classes to grade starting Monday, but after that, I get a week off! Yaaay!)

Pictures, finally!
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Well, poo.
I finally was home during daylight hours and figured I'd get pictures of what's happened lately, but the camera's out of service - at least to me.
I finished the first Slippery sock, and the pair of Socks That Mean Nothing to Me. I started a plain boring black-grey ribbed sock so that I can have boring socks at work. In a fit of hubris or something like it, I started a wrap sweater in Cotton-ease. It's gotten nasty snowy and/or icy with single degree temps at least twice since I started it, making me think I'm ridiculous for thinking spring or summer will ever be here, because obviously I still need wool everything. Second Slippery is still in ribbing, but should get to the fun pattern part soon enough.
Knitting time was good this weekend, watched movies and TV with the Kid Brother, but I mostly spent time finishing the Socks That Mean Nothing to Me - which got annoyingly stupid toward the end. They're yummy to wear, though. Next priority is the work socks - I need them yesterday.
Pictures when I can.

It can be done.
The scarf happened. Thursday night to Saturday afternoon, it got done.
However, considering I was weaving in ends in the car on the way to the birthday shindig, I didn't get a picture. However, I am entirely in love with chunky Malabrigo and may need to do that again some day soon. Meanwhile, I'm back on the Slippery sock and it's going fine.

Knitterly denial
Grading papers, prepping lectures, and making sure I have things like roll sheets in order shouldn't stop me from trying to knit a scarf between now and Saturday afternoon, right?
Chunky yarn, big needles? Why not?

Confession.
The reason I haven't posted is because I haven't really finished anything. At all.

That's the pink Tuscany shawl. Ends are not woven, blocking hasn't happened.
And then there's those nagging cabled socks.

The toe of the first was reknit, and there's a little wonkiness there. They need blocking and end-weaving too.
Of course, not finishing these things hasn't stopped me from starting others. First there are the Socks That Mean Nothing to Me, whose simplicity I reveled in when those brown ones got too demanding.

There's not much to them, but they have their use.
And I started another lace project. Well, but for the actual lace. I got as far as the hem, then stopped about a week ago. I need to get back to it.
But I got distracted.

Slippery socks, the pattern is from the winter Knitty, and it's fabulous. The yarn is Woolly Boully Softie in Lunamoth, I got it from the Loopy Ewe a few months back. The two work together beautifully. The colors are super-bright, and the pattern helps them step up individually in a way they might not otherwise.
So that's the story of the past few weeks. Nothing finished, but something might be soon.

Drat.
Second cabled sock has two mistakes, the first I was going to live with, the second I won't, so I'm figuring while I'm frogging I might as well deal with both. Which means tonight needs to be all about the dratted sock, since there's 20 rounds that are going away in a few minutes. I am feeling the need for a different sock pattern in my life, so I want this thing finished. The pattern is written but for the toe, which needs reworked from the first sock anyway.
Pink shawl needs ends woven in. And blocked.
And I have to get back into work mode today, because I have class tomorrow night and training the next.
Pictures eventually.
